The point of role playing is to play a role, isn’t it? Or do you think role playing is just about running around with a large weapon or many magic-energy-points? Then you shouldn’t continue to read because you won’t like what I write and I wouldn’t want to get your comment anyway.
Okay, if I play a role, I go about it by thinking “what would the character [I play] do in this situation?” And the answer to that is in very, VERY few cases “sell all the healing potions to buy a bigger weapon” or “die and use the game’s built-in load functionality instead of drinking one of the expensive healing potions”.
I accept that there may be characters that believe in being reborn and who thus don’t mind being killed. But then they shouldn’t complain about their partners killing all the monsters and getting all the experience points while they themselves are dead, should they?
