I moved to Munich a few month ago - well actually I move to Munich only a few days ago but my stuff is here for a few months already. But anyway, I don’t have DSL yet. There are 6 or 7 WLANs in my building but these damn neighbors know how to set a password. This means I feel like living on a remote island far away from civilization when I’m at home. About an hour ago I brought my GF to the train station and luckily there is a Starbucks with a hotspot. With my iPass account I can access it without paying to 8EUR/h and get my fix of internet today
Have a lot of fun in munich! What exactly is the iPass-Account? And when will you be here again? I still have to invite you for dinner!
see e.g. at ipass.de, it’s a client which handles the authentication for a great number of WLAN hotspots. It’s not free but at least I don’t have to buy access at starbuck or at the airport or anywhere.
What I don’t understand is that you’d like to steal their bandwidth, yet don’t care to ask them whether they wouldn’t mind sharing. Try to find one and ask!
I think stealing is the wrong term here but anyway… And yes, I thought about posting a note in the entrance and ask about sharing but forgot it again and again. The problem actually exists no longer because last week I received a SIM-Card for my corporate UMTS-Card
Frank-Heard of your move to Munich. Congrats. Please contact at your convenience. Cousin Joe in Chicago.
